There are a variety of jobs on offer in Scotland’s paralegal sector. Become a family paralegal and work on cases that involve pre-nuptial agreements, child care and civil partnerships. Work as a personal injury solicitor and help people who have been hurt in work-related accidents. Take on the role of a legal assistant and carry out administration duties in a busy firm. The apprenticeship is designed to give you the skills necessary to succeed in the world of law.

Your qualification includes:
Paralegal Practice at SCQF Level 7
During your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:
Draft legal documents
Provide papers for legal matters
Comply with legal, organisational and regulatory requirements in the provision of legal services

These transferrable skills are useful for working in other jobs such as administration and law.
This Modern Apprenticeship gives you a range of options. Continue your studies with a technical apprenticeship in paralegal practice or go into full-time work.
Further education: Increase your legal knowledge by applying for a bachelor’s degree in law. This could lead to a higher qualification like a Masters in law.
Straight to work: Use your qualifications to find a job in the paralegal industry. After completing the apprenticeship, you could move onto jobs like:

There are no set requirements for this apprenticeship. But it is beneficial to have an interest in the law and a desire to improve your legal awareness.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take between 12 and 24 months to complete.
