Scotland’s freight logistics industry is an essential part of other sectors such as manufacturing, food and drink, chemicals, healthcare, pharmaceuticals and more. There are a range of jobs to choose from. Become a van driver and transport medical supplies to a pharmacist. Work as a logistics operative and ensure products go to the right place.
You'll gain a Modern Apprenticeship at SCQF Level 5, Level 6 or Level 7.

Your qualification includes:
Driving Goods Vehicles: Van at SCQF Level 5
Warehousing and Storage at SCQF Level 5
Warehousing and Storage Support Operations at SCQF Level 5
SVQ in Driving Goods Vehicles at SCQF Level 6
SVQ in Warehousing, Storage and Distribution at SCQF Level 6
SVQ in Logistics Operations at SCQF Level 7
During your apprenticeship, you'll learn how to:
Maintain health and safety in logistics operations
Develop effective working relationships with colleagues in logistics operations
Move or handle goods in logistics environment
Contribute to the provision of customer services
Keep stock at required levels
Place goods in storage
Assemble orders for dispatch
Store waste and operating materials within a waste management environment
You will develop the following core skills:
Time management
Numeracy
Team work
Problem-solving
Communication
These transferrable skills are useful for working in other roles such as supply chain and warehouse work.
This Modern Apprenticeship gives you a range of options. Carry on your studies with a technical apprenticeship in supply chain management or go into full-time work.
Further education: Continue to improve your logistics skills by studying a CIPS Level 4 Diploma in procurement and supply. You could also study for a Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport qualification.
Straight to work: Use your experience to find a job in the logistics industry. Several roles are listed below:

Entry requirements
There are no set requirements for the apprenticeship. However, if you are planning on becoming a logistics driver then you need to be at least 18 years old. You will also need to pass a medical exam before applying for a provisional large goods vehicle (LGV) licence.
How does it work?
You’ll learn in a real-world environment and earn a wage. You’ll also study with a college or another learning provider.
How long will it take?
This Modern Apprenticeship will take 12 to 24 months to complete.
