On starting you will be provided with full equipment which includes all the tools to help you become a technician, overalls, boots… everything required to help you start your career with Volvo.

Typical Day:

You will work with qualified and experienced Technicians learning how to repair, service, MOT and maintain modern trucks, buses and coaches including hybrid technology… and so much more to learn.

What will I learn?

The Modern Apprenticeship is a four year programme where you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework (level 3) standards for Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, including Core Skills.

Your training is split between college and workplace, on the job training will be carried out in the employer’s workshop alongside your workplace mentor. College will typically be two-week block release at Stephenson College (Coalville). This provides a great opportunity for you to build relationships with your peers outside the workplace. We will cover all travel and accommodation costs, including meal allowances.

During your apprenticeship you will build portfolios to record all your training, experience and skills gained throughout your apprenticeship.

What qualification or qualities are required?

The successful applicant will be confident, self-motivated and keen to work as part of a team.

Having an interest in working in the automotive and engineering industries and inquisitive nature and a desire to fix things are just as important as academic achievements.

Maths and English at Nat 5 or above, Computer and Information Technology at Nat 4 and it is also preferred if you have a craft subject and physics/science would be advantageous but not mandatory.

Initial Assessments and interviews will be carried by Remit Ltd.
